Top Gun DX7 Tubular Bell Sound Effect
I looked for iconic Top Gun Chime effect but couldn't find this anywhere online, so I created this using an E3 (only note I could find) from the original Yamaha DX7 synthesizer tubular bells patch. If you should need to emulate the unmistakable sound effect from that movie, then enjoy!

Bernstein on Having Tough Teachers
Переглядів 172 тис.Рік тому
Bernstein talks about two teachers who were "tyrannical" in their teaching of him: Fritz Reiner and Isabelle Vengerova. This tyrannical approach turned out to be one of the most important aspects of Bernstein's education.

Don't stop and blame it on the orchestra, know the score, and listen to what is actually being played. Great advice from Lenny! Taken from the documentary linked below: ua-cam.com/video/1qYz1GJ8BgA/v-deo.html
Vocalist Disagrees With Bernstein's Tempo

Bernstein describes this passage as "always impossible" and suggests that the audience won't understand the words anyway, so what's the big deal? Awkward.

Teaching Band During COVID-19 Tutorial: Recording Basic Audio with a Chromebook
Переглядів 1,5 тис.4 роки тому
A lot of my students are using chromebooks to record their playing for distance learning purposes. This seems to be a really easy way to record audio and then have it easily accessible to submit using Google Classroom or other online learning platforms. A great video showing the submission process to Google Classroom from the student's perspective: ua-cam.com/video/-iWZJP4jGPY/v-deo.html

Created as a lecture for my students as we embark on "distance learning" and can't rehearse. This is one topic that I wanted them to understand more fully. Check out ww2.lipscomb.edu/windbandhistory/ for a more complete look at this history!

noice
There’s a word for that trumpeter…. let’s see….. um… oh yeah. Wanker.
This is going to sound arrogant but what if Bernstein had just conducted him in two. I’m sure Carreras had rehearsed the heck out of it beforehand. (The orchestra did not need it in four-they, of course, would have known it backwards and forwards).
It’s José Carreras, not just a “tenor.” In any event, I cannot fathom how difficult it was for him to be recorded on one of the greatest American musicals, with all of Bernstein’s syncopation in composition, and with Bernstein conducting. Talk about stressful. And in a language that was not his native tongue.
“It doesn’t matter, nobody knows your notes or can hear the words anyway.” OUCH
You know this was Christa Ludwig not just any obscure vocalist
QYO Wind Ensemble played this gorgeous setting yesterday in their end of term concert. Thank you for creating such a beautiful and moving work.
Go Irish!
Generational Fumble
Carreras was using some subtle colors and expression. This music isn't really his thing. Why cast him and torture him? His voice is still beautiful under distress...
By far the best sound in the world. Can listen to it on repeat over and over and over. Just makes me feel happy.
when you fighting zombies in paris with nothing but muskets and swords but this banger starts playing
I LOVE BOAT
Twista could do it
this is golden!!! this us a treasure of history, the feeling , the energy, the vibe, the greatness in these people...... god bless them souls. im lucky to witness this.
Take131?!.... insane
"Yes, I'm sure that's what he had in mind when he selected the libretto was to perform it so no one can understand it."
Phantastisch!!
My heart just goes out to Bernstein so much watching this. I know what he’s experiencing. It’s so exhausting and so wrong that he should have had to deal with such mushegas.
"Were you rushing or were you dragging?"
Wrong title, opera singer, not a vocalist ,one is miles away from the other !
She is not a vocalist ,she is an opera singer, big difference ,anybody can be a vocalist in a band, not everybody can sing opera, the difference : years of really hard training and the ability to read music, and he was wrong,if the tempo is accelerated, she has no time to breath as she should
Enya? The Celts?)
Vocalist? The greatest Mezzosoprano of all times, Christa Ludwig!!
If, as Furtwängler claims, crescendo means piano, then immer schneller could mean slow. 🎉
That was basically the lack of preps with a repetiteur. This is a rhythmically tricky piece, moreso if you are mainly singing Italian opera like Carreras. I can´t understand why they let him go into the recording studio with preps like these. Poor guy.
2:28 Baby Van Gogh Credits
Bernstein didn´t have the routine and experiences to work with singers like Karajan had. He basically was a symphonic conductor. And here it shows.
stilllll!
Ужасный темп.😮
Storia della musica bello l’abitino della Ludwig bei colori
Not quite my tempo 🤨
1:27 moment of Glory!!

That anonymous "vocalist" is Christa fucking Ludwig, and Bernstein should have listened to someone who knew her instrument and repertoire better than he did. Not a shining moment for him.
A room full of great musicians, and one guy playing with his hair and nose!
One must understand that the singer is Christa Ludwig, who was nothing less than divine, and regarding Mahler-Lieder the ultimate benchmark of an interpretation true to the sythesis of music and the words (which were very important for Mahler, and beautiful by themselves, lookup a translation of 'Lied von der Erde'). Just listen to ua-cam.com/video/SeNiAh4VLCA/v-deo.html for instance, if you understand what the poem is about, you might get what I mean. Lennie was wrong, many in the audience understand German, and crave for hearing the words clearly, especially in the last part, 'Abschied'
El Maestro Lido Guarnieri en los Oboes ❤
Ooohhh... A trumpeter sensitive like a little glass box. Come on, be a adult man!
Musicians....
If she didn't waste so much breath over-enunciating her plosives she'd be fine.
What’s the name of this dance floor stomper, wouldn’t mind having a boogie to it?
Women disagree all the time and they are always wrong. Except when they're right.
definitely sounds like shit
Respect to this vocalist.
She is absolutely 100% correct, and Bernstein is being a total asshole, drunk with his own power. After all, he’s not playing the fucking thing, his musicians are and their perspective should be honored. Facist conducting here
2 prima donnas fighting it out
The director seems to be dispassionate...
What a couple of knuckleheads. They need to take 1st grade science class. These two rocket scientists should’ve been on Jay Leno’s old Tonite Show, ‘Jay Walking’, topic, ‘Solar System.’ What a laugh these two would be! 🤔🤣👍🥴🙀✨🌙💫⭐️🌎🌜🌞🌝
US Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee said the Moon is a planet and made up of gases - perhaps she remembers watching this?
Calling Chista Ludwig a vocalist is like calling einstein a scientist
